About Legal Information for Families Today (LIFT): Each year, 250,000 cases are filed in NYC Family Court. More than 80% of these families do not qualify for a free attorney but cannot afford to hire one on their own. Therefore, they must face the challenge of representing themselves in cases involving such issues as child custody, support and visitation. LIFT is the only organization in New York that provides clear, on-the spot guidance to these families. LIFT helps nearly 30,000 families annually find stability and well-being for their children with legal and social services. Funds raised at the Benefit enable LIFT to provide and grow these essential services.
